Quick Comment on UFC 68

Usually, J. refrains from posting on MMA fights. This event is pretty darn amazing, though.

Randy “The Natural” Couture, a 43-year-old, 6 foot 2 inches (188cm), 220lbs (100kg) UFC hall-of-famer came out of retirement to beat Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia, the 30-year-old, 6 foot 8 inches (203cm), 265 lbs (118kg) UFC Heavyweight champion.

He not only defeated him, but dominated him throughout the 5 round fight both standing up and on the ground. Great stuff. Especially when you consider that Randy’s background was in Greco-Roman wrestling while Tim is a known striker (stands up, throws punches and kicks).

Everyone loves a good comeback story. He’s gone from retirement to new UFC Heavy Champion. Next up, Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic?

P.S. Check out the arm triangle submission in the McFedries vs Kampmann fight.

Have gotten new respect for fighters after learning more about Stallone recently.

  2. Would you be referring to Sylvester Stallone? Isn’t he an actor and not, in fact, a fighter? It’s a little bit different from MMA.

Talking about his role as Rocky =)

  4. Heh. Why not look upon the real-life example of Randy Couture instead of the reel-life example of Rocky? No MMA fan can stop himself from respecting Couture now.
